Diabetes And My Life
Hello My name Is Brian Paterson. I live in Victoria, Canada.
Last year I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes means that I have to give my self shots of insulin on a regular basis to basically live a normal life. One thing I have noticed about having diabetes is the lack of education people actually have about diabetes. People who found out that I had diabetes were always asking me questions like... "If you eat sugar you will die right"
This is so very untrue... The truth is I need a perfect balance of sugar in my body or bad things can happen. If I have too much sugar in my body I will start becoming dehydrated.. have muscle cramps... and tend to urin quite frequently. If I dont have enough sugar in my body then im running the risk of falling into a diabetic coma and that can lead to death. This is why us Type 1 diabetics have to keep a constant watch on our sugar levels in our bodies at the present time and how much sugar were putting into our bodies so we can keep that perfect balance with insulin.
